The Visit

No storms were forecast today, so we visited the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge near Lawton, Oklahoma. We at lunch at the Meers Restaurant, which was open today. It's a popular place, and there was a line to get into the restaurant. Of course there was. It was a Saturday.

From Meers, we drove through the park and offered to spend the rest of the afternoon looking at and photographing wildlife. However, the photography tour felt the harsh daytime light wasn't the best for that, and the light would be better later in the evening. Given that we had had a long tour with many miles on the road, most people were happy to just get back to the base hotel. We drove up to the top of Mount Scott for a view and then returned to Oklahoma City.
